Making Fire

Fire is a very old technology. We built a modern fire-making tool that was designed to last and to be incredibly satisfying to use.

High Performance Materials

AF05 features a custom high-speed steel (HSS) machined to strike the ferro rod at the optimal angle and Strength hardened to retain its edge.

The sparks generated by AF05 burn at over at 5,500 °F, a result of friction causing the ignition of iron-cerium alloy particles that are produced with each strike from the HSS striker.

Magnetic Snap

Integrated rare earth magnets secure AF05 with a satisfying snap, and a high-strength paracord loop ties the whole assembly together.

The translucent PETG enclosures are 3D printed at artifactual HQ in four beautiful colorways.
